Description

General descriptionInclusive Education Planning

Ableism is a 'pervasive system of discrimination and exclusion that oppresses people who have mental, emotional, and physical disabilities' (Rauscher & McClintock, 1997, p. 198). Ableism is  a problem of consciousness, not only one of practice, in our education system. Hence, ableism is far more than deficit language and inaccessible classrooms. In this one hour webinar we will discuss the evidence regarding ableism in education and explore strategies to address it so that students with disability are valued and welcomed in general education.
